It started with question from one my supervisors earlier this year: “Would you be interested in launching a women’s newsletter?”
My answer was a resounding “YES”.
But I wanted some ground rules first. It had to be a quick, easy read (women are busy) and filled with real-life advice. It needed to target midstate leaders and focus on midstate leaders.
These women live, work and raise a family in this community. Their ideas matter. Their leadership matters. Their stories matter. The newsletter content needed to be relatable, professional and personal.
Our staff at Central Penn Business Journal fully embraced this concept and so have many readers in the midstate. The monthly newsletter has grown and flourished since its launch.
When I was putting together this looking-back video (below) it was a very humbling experience. The phone interviews, the breakfast and after-work meetings — they all brought back a flood of memories: Laughter, advice and sometimes tears. I have a pretty cool job and I’m grateful for that.
So, let’s salute 2016. But let’s also look forward to 2017 and another year to tell more Women in Leadership stories.
