Roughly 2,000 athletes will head to York County
during the summer of 2014 for the Can-Am Police-Fire Games, the York County
Convention and Visitors Bureau said today.
The event is expected to generate about $3 million in
economic impact for the county while bringing more than 4,000 people to the
area. The games will take place from July 13-20, 2014, and include more than 50
sporting events. It will be the first time the games will be hosted in Pennsylvania.
The Can-Am Police-Fire Games promote physical fitness and
friendship between law enforcement officers and fire fighters. The events
include swimming, softball, cycling and a fire attack game.
