For many accomplished women, their secret is to not set any limits. All across the midstate, women have repeatedly shattered the proverbial glass ceiling and made a great impact on both our business landscape and their communities. That's why we're honoring 28 female leaders in the region as our Women of Influence. Through their career accomplishments, leadership, vision, community service and mentoring, they have demonstrated that no limitations will stand in the way of success.

With the capital city being part of the Dauphin/Cumberland region, it creates a unique economy. But even more interesting is the economic effect of the Susquehanna River. While Harrisburg originated as a trading post whose livelihood relied on the river for transportation, today the river attracts housing, restaurants and many other businesses — from those on City Island to Three Mile Island, which draws on the water supply to produce nuclear power.
