Central Penn Parent recognized
Central Penn Business Journal's sister publication, Central Penn Parent, was recognized March 1 by an international media association for its columns, page design and news stories.
The magazine is under the editorial leadership of Leslie Penkunas, editor, and Kathryn Ross, Parent and Business Journal publisher.
Parenting Media Association, the international association of parenting publications, held its annual conference and awards ceremony in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Specifically, Central Penn Parent received:
Gold Award, Column: Child Development & Parenting Issues, for the Mind on Health column. The column, which has run in each issue since March 2017, is provided by the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Psychology Department.
Gold Award, Single Page Design, for “Mom-ish: God Save the Tween.” The regular column, provided since 2018 by blogger Lynne Reeder, was designed by Kady Weddle, special publications supervisor.
Bronze Award: News feature, for “The encroachment: Boy Scouts are admitting girls. What now?” The article was written by freelancer Jake Miller.
Bronze Award: Service Feature, for “Sweet Slumber,” an article by editor Leslie Penkunas that shared the struggles of sleep for children with autism, and what parents can do to help them.
