Lebanon County general contractor H.R. Weaver Building Systems has purchased a longtime home-remodeling company in Derry Township, marking H.R. Weaver's third acquisition in the last three months.

H.R. Weaver said Wednesday it has acquired Ensminger Builder Inc., a contractor with six employees that has been serving the Hershey, Middletown and Palmrya areas since 1972.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. North Londonderry Township-based H.R. Weaver said the two sides had been in discussions for a few months as part of a succession plan for Jake Ensminger, founder of Ensminger Builder, who is retiring.

"Jake will continue to offer his expertise over the next few months as the transition occurs," said Chad Weaver, president and CEO of H.R. Weaver.

H.R. Weaver has been expanding its in-house commercial and residential construction services to reduce its dependency on subcontractors, a shift that can lower project costs for clients.

In December, H.R. Weaver bought two other local companies from owners who were looking to retire. H.R. Weaver purchased Hahnlen Electrical Contracting in Annville and Steve Kreider Painting in Palmyra.
