Two Lancaster County excavating companies have joined forces.

East Hempfield Township-based B.R. Kreider & Son Inc. said Monday that it has purchased Morrison Excavating in East Drumore Township for an undisclosed sum. The deal closed on Feb. 27.

B.R. Kreider will retain 22 Morrison employees and the company's Quarryville location, which is about 35 minutes from Kreider's headquarters.

"We were looking to add another operational site that would enable us to better serve our clients in southcentral Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware," said Brent Kreider, president of B.R. Kreider & Son.

Morrison has been in business for more than 30 years, serving customers in Lancaster, York and Chester counties, as well as northern Maryland.

Founded in 1936, B.R. Kreider is one of the largest excavating and paving companies in Central Pennsylvania with more than 200 employees. The company finished 2018 with $43.8 million in revenue, according to Business Journal records.
