York-based radiology practice Quantum Imaging is boosting its services to five UPMC Pinnacle locations after the system's previous radiology partner disbanded at the end of last year.

UPMC Pinnacle said Quantum will be expanding its coverage to include Susquehanna, Derry and Lower Paxton townships in Dauphin County and Lemoyne and East Pennsboro Township in Cumberland County.

Quantum has provided radiology services to inpatient and outpatient facilities in Central Pennsylvania for over 90 years. Its growing partnership with UPMC Pinnacle comes after Harrisburg radiology group Tristan Radiology Specialists disbanded in 2018.

Tristan operated out of UPMC Pinnacle’s radiology offices but closed after facing difficulty in managing overhead costs. Twelve Tristan radiologists joined with Penn State Health Medical Group.

UPMC Pinnacle’s partnership with Quantum will allow the locations left empty by Tristan to continue to house imaging services.

“We are pleased to seamlessly extend our services to cover additional UPMC Pinnacle locations without any disruption in services to our patients,” Elizabeth A. Bergey, president of Quantum Imaging, said. “Our respected team of experts works side-by-side with UPMC Pinnacle’s health care team to deliver the most reliable, safe and patient-focused care in an effective and timely manner.”

Quantum employs more than 60 diagnostic and interventional radiologists and works throughout the state in teleradiology, hospitals and imaging centers.
