Lancaster County-based Resonance Audiology expanded from one office to three in a month - a change its founder says will allow the practice to be closer to its elderly and Plain community patients.

Resonance Audiology opened in New Holland in 2014 and moved in 2017 to its current office at 406 E. Main St. for more space.

Dr. Zoe Horan, audiologist and founder of Resonance Audiology, said the practice had an opportunity in 2018 to open a second office in East Hempfield Township, which would ease travel for some of her patients.

"I was seeing a lot of referrals from physicians and ear nose and throat doctors in that area," Horan said. "Patients were traveling pretty far to see me."

As Horan prepared to open the East Hempfield office, she was approached by Advanced Tech Hearing Aid Centers in Lancaster to purchase its office at the Garden Spot Village Retirement Community, also in New Holland.

Upon purchasing the Garden Spot Village office, Horan retained the office's hearing instrument specialist of 12 years and its front-office administrator. The office opened on Nov. 16. The East Hempfield office opened on Dec. 17.

Horan hired an audiologist for the East Hempfield office and plans to continue her work at her first office in New Holland. The Garden Spot Village and East Hempfield offices will operate mostly autonomously.

"I will mainly be in the New Holland office," Horan said. "I see a full schedule of patients here but I anticipate that I will be doing some floating around."

What makes Resonance Audiology different, according to Horan, is that two of the three offices are located with other practices. The New Holland office is situated next to an optometrist's office and the Lancaster location is inside of an optometry practice with a dentist's office above it.

She said the practice typically sees senior patients, as well as a number of Plain patients, and that both populations want to receive all of their care at one stop.

The practice offers audiology services, including hearing aids, hearing protection, tinnitus treatment and hearing conservation.
