Gannett Fleming acquires Chicago firm BB&A
Cumberland County-based infrastructure and engineering firm Gannett Fleming Inc. has acquired an engineering firm in Chicago, the company's third deal in less than six months.
Gannett Fleming said Monday in a news release that it has purchased Bowman, Barrett & Associates Inc., a 30-year-old transportation consulting firm that works with several large clients in the Chicago area, including the Illinois Department of Transportation and the city of Chicago.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquired firm now operates as BB&A, a business group of Gannett Fleming.
In the coming year, Gannett Fleming said it plans to combine BB&A with the company's existing Chicago office. Gannett Fleming had about 25 employees in Chicago and this acquisition adds about 40, officials said.
As part of the move, BB&A co-founders Louis Bowman and John Barrett are retiring.
Two months earlier, Gannett Fleming acquired a firm in Southern California in a bid to expand its reach in water and wastewater engineering services.
Gannett Fleming has more than 2,300 employees in more than 60 offices around the world. The company finished 2017 with $410 million in revenue, making it one of the largest private companies in Central Pennsylvania.
