Dawood Engineering acquires Boston-area company
Lower Paxton Township-based Dawood Engineering Inc. has acquired a firm near Boston to expand its presence in the New England region.
Dawood on Tuesday announced it has purchased Surveying and Mapping Consultants (SMC) for an undisclosed sum. SMC, which has 15 employees, will operate as a division of Dawood and retain its current brand name.
President Bony Dawood said the deal adds a company with nearly 30 years of experience in providing survey services to state departments of transportation, utility companies and other consulting firms.
SMC also has invested heavily in new technology, including mobile LiDAR, 3-D scanning and point cloud drafting, which will help bolster Dawood's survey services.
"This acquisition also expands our presence in Massachusetts, where we see great opportunity on major infrastructure and development projects," Dawood said.
Dawood already has an office in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.
Kevin Hanley, the founder of SMC will serve as regional manager for Dawood. He said the acquisition sets the groundwork for his company to continue to grow in Massachusetts, New England and beyond.
With the addition of SMC staff, Dawood has 145 employees. The Dauphin County company now has 10 offices in five states. In addition to Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, the company also has operations in Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland.
