UPMC Pinnacle opens two offices in Cumberland County
UPMC Pinnacle opened two specialty offices in Cumberland County last month in an effort to bring more services to the area served by one of its newest hospitals.
UPMC Pinnacle Breast Cancer Care Center, in South Middleton Township, and UPMC Pinnacle Endocrinology in Dickinson Township, will bring specialties to the Carlisle community that UPMC determined it needs, said Kelly McCall, UPMC Pinnacle's public relations director.
"As UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle is seeing more patients choosing the hospital for inpatient services and surgery, we are also evaluating what outpatient services are needed to meet this growth," McCall said.
UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle, formerly Carlisle Regional Medical Center, was purchased by PinnacleHealth, later acquired by UPMC, in 2017.
McCall said that the Carlisle area has proven to be one of the fastest-growing in the state and that long-term projections for Cumberland County show continued population growth through 2040.
The new breast cancer center opened on Oct. 29 on Sprint Drive in South Middleton Township and offers care for benign and cancerous breast disease, a press release by UPMC said. The endocrinology office opened on Oct. 15 on Alexander Spring Road in Dickinson Township and its specialists help patients with diabetes, thyroid disease, pituitary gland disease, osteoporosis and menopause.
McCall said that the new offices are dedicated to bringing Carlisle residents specialty care closer to home.
