Chocolatetown is coming to Hersheypark in 2020.

After teasing a major announcement in recent weeks, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Co. on Wednesday unveiled the $150 million Chocolatetown expansion project at Hersheypark.

Slated to open in the summer of 2020, the new region of the park will add 23 acres of new attractions to the 121-acre Derry Township amusement park.

"We are incredibly excited to enter this next chapter in the rich history of Hersheypark," said John Lawn, the company's president and CEO.

Chocolatetown is being built on current park land and some undeveloped land adjacent to the park, including on what was the old Hershey swimming pool site.

This will be the largest capital investment and expansion project in the park's rich history, Lawn said.

One of the most dramatic changes will be a new front gate to the park. Chocolatetown will include the park's 15th roller coaster, which will be its tallest, fastest and longest coaster. However, Hershey Entertainment declined to share more details about it and promised a separate announcement in the summer of 2019.

Chocolatetown will be the new home for the park's carousel, which is turning 100 years old next year.

The development also will include a new two-story themed restaurant with bar and patio overlooking the park, an ice cream parlor and confectionary scratch kitchen and a 2,200-square-foot Starbucks store.

In addition, Hersheypark will open a 10,000-square-foot flagship store with the company's largest collection of Hersheypark merchandise, the park's largest kettle corn location and a one-of-a-kind Kisses fountain near the new coaster.

Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2019. Hershey Entertainment said additional updates on the project will be shared over the next 18 months.

A virtual rendering of Chocolatetown is available online through a new website.

The Jack In The Box conducts the survey to know about customers satisfaction and experience. For that, they ask the customers in the form of a survey.

Did the glowing press release mention anything about increased ticket prices? Hmmm...didn't think so.
