York County residents will have another opportunity to fuel their creativity when craft and home decor retailer Hobby Lobby in West Manchester Township opens its doors next week.

A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 9 a.m., Aug. 13, to welcome the retail chain’s 16th Pennsylvania store.

Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., based in Oklahoma City, is a private organization that began in 1970 as Greco, a miniature picture frame company. Hobby Lobby was born after the company’s owner, David Green, moved his business from his family home to a 300 square-foot retail space in 1972, according to a press release. The chain now has more than 800 stores throughout the U.S. that offer arts-and-crafts products, such as fabric, needle art and baskets.

Once the 52,000 square-foot West Manchester Township store opens, it will be the second location in York County. The other is located in Penn Township near Hanover.

Following the West Manchester Township’s grand opening, the store will be open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
