After an ownership change to start the year, Lemoyne-based information technology firm 2K Networking Inc. has changed its name to Splashwire, hoping the new identity will help the 18-year-old company carve out a new era of growth.

"As a brand, the name 2K was suggestive of the past," said Josh Hinkle, the company's president and CEO, who acquired the company in January. "But we're not on the cusp of the new century, we're in it. And as a company, we're not looking back; our focus is on what's ahead."

The firm, which specializes in end-to-end technology support for midsized companies, said it plans to focus on four core IT service areas: consulting, solutions, security and communications.

With the name change, Splashwire also is looking to add more staff to bolster its C-suite services, such as chief information security officer (CISO) services and data center services. The firm, which has 20 employees, expects to hire as many as eight additional employees by the end of 2019 to help clients in those areas.

Splashwire has a national client base, but it also is supporting tech-related ventures in Central Pennsylvania. For example, the company recently signed on to provide in-kind tech support for the newly opened Smart Health Innovation Lab, a Lancaster accelerator for health care technologies.

In addition to health care IT, the company works in a variety of other sectors, including education, government, manufacturing and nonprofit.

Splashwire is a much cooler name. I don't know why anybody would've named a company 2k anything back then. But nice work on the name change though guys. Riley at Mobile Car Detailing Raleigh NC
