The Lancaster County Airport in Manheim Township was awarded $691,150 in state funds that will go toward a new aircraft maintenance hangar and office, a $921,534 project in total.

It is one of 14 airports across the commonwealth that were awarded $15 million in state investments to make safety upgrades or expand operation opportunities, Gov. Tom Wolf said Friday in a news release.

“Aviation serves as a catalyst for our economy across Pennsylvania and features more than 400 airports serving a variety of customers. Hundreds of thousands of jobs are at stake, and these investments help airports bolster commerce and attract more customers,” Wolf said.

The Lancaster County Airport is one of four projects being funded by the aviation portion of the $5.2 million Multimodal Fund which was created by Act 89.

Lancaster County Airport officials were not immediately available for comment.
