Utz Quality Foods LLC's newest partnership makes it the official salty snack of Major League Baseball.

In its first major sports league sponsorship, Hanover-based Utz has partnered with the MLB, David Hochman, spokesman for the MLB confirmed.

Under the agreement, Utz will unveil new, baseball-themed packaging featuring the MLB's trademark silhouetted batter on a number of ballpark snacks, including pretzels, potato chips, cheeseballs and popcorn.

Details about the length of the term and how much money is included in the sponsorship were not disclosed.

"Fans have watched baseball games while enjoying their favorite food for decades, so a fully integrated partnership with Utz and its collection of snacks is a perfect match," Noah Garden, MLB executive vice president of commerce, said in a statement.

Utz was not immediately available for comment.

The Utz snack items sporting MLB logos are expected to be available for purchase for a limited time this summer at retail stores nationally, said Uzma Rawn, group director and vice president of sponsorship sales for the MLB.

Rawn also noted that Utz snacks are available at Oriole Park at Camden Yards and PNC Park as Utz already had a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles.

Utz will also promote the MLB-branded snacks through the MLB’s broadcast and digital networks.

Utz operates 12 manufacturing facilities, in Pennsylvania, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana and Massachusetts.
