Anne Druck has been named CEO and executive director of the United Way of York County.

The longtime president of the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau will officially take over for 65-year-old Robert Woods on July 9. Woods, who has served as the local chapter’s executive director for 25 years, announced his retirement last December.

"Anne has been an outstanding advocate for United Way and we have benefited from her energy to support our mission over the past few years," Woods said in a statement. "She is always thinking of new ways to make connections between local companies and how they can give back and that will help to lead to future growth."

Amy Wannemacher, vice president of tax at Glatfelter and chair-elect for the United Way, led the search committee for Woods’ replacement and said the process about two years.

It was important that the local chapter extend its search nationally, but the nonprofit was happy to find the leading candidate in its home community, Wannemacher said.

Druck’s previous experience as a United Way campaign chairwoman as well as her extensive fundraising background made her a top choice, said Joe Rilatt, president of the Central Pennsylvania region of Fulton Bank and board chairman for United Way.

In a statement, Druck said: "I have always felt that it is extremely important to give back to the community where my family and I live. That is why United Way’s mission to build a stronger, caring community by cultivating financial generosity, volunteerism and advocacy is one that speaks personally to me and I am honored to take on this important role."

Currently, Druck is on the board of directors for the Partnership for Economic Development York County, on the advisory board for the Women’s Business Organization Center, and the Southern York County School District Foundation. She also serves as president-elect for the Rotary Club of York.
