OSS Health expands its York orthopedic center
OSS Health is adding space and a parking garage to its Powder Mill Road orthopedics center in York Township.
To make room for six new doctors at the facility, OSS Health has started building a new 6,000 square-foot medical office, said Angie Hartman, marketing director for the company.
"We need more space at this facility to see more patients," she said.
In addition to being able to accommodate more patients, the new doctors will help with the transition as other doctors prepare to retire, Hartman added.
Of the six new doctors, one is a hand specialist, two are joint specialists in hips, shoulders and knee replacements, one is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle, and one is a podiatrist.
The second-floor addition is being built over the existing facility - erected 12 years ago - by Kinsley Construction Inc. It will include new exam rooms, X-ray labs, a second elevator, and a nurse station and check-in.
The addition will also include a lecture room for educational workshops. It will be equipped with two large televisions and seating that has computer hookups. The interior spaces are being designed by mulá design of York.
Hartman also said the project includes construction of a new parking deck that will be accessible from Powder Mill Road. The new parking deck will add 74 spaces designated for OSS Health employees, so that parking closer to the building is available to patients.
Services will not be shifted during construction. Staff parking, however, has started to shift off-site to two nearby churches and will continue to do so as the project progresses. Staff is being shuttled to and from the off-site parking throughout the duration of the construction.
The parking deck and office addition are slated to be complete this fall.
Kinsley constructed the 66,000 square-foot OSS Orthopaedic Hospital in 2010. More recently the construction company completed a canopied walkway at the facility.
