Marshalls will open its doors at a new location in York County on April 26.

The discount retailer joins the lineup at the York Galleria Mall in Springettsbury Township and will be open 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays, said Katie Babb, marketing specialist for The TJX Companies Inc., Marshalls' parent.

The mall at 2889 Whiteford Road opened in 1989 is currently home to about 90 stores and three department stores.

The 21,000 square-foot store offers designer apparel for ladies, men, juniors and children, as well as shoes, accessories and home, pet, and beauty products.

Babb says that in addition to a new shopping option for York County, the store also brings 60 full and part-time jobs to the area, but was unsure as to how many positions were still available.

A spokesperson at York Galleria said last month that negotiations were underway to fill other vacancies at the mall, but she declined to offer additional details. The store is the third retailer filling in space previously occupied by J.C. Penney's.

"We are thrilled to welcome Marshalls to York Galleria," Alicia Easley, marketing director for CBL & Associates Properties Inc., the owner of the York Galleria, said. "The store satisfies the demand from our customers for a value-oriented retailer at the property, and it complements the recent additions of H&M and Gold’s Gym."

To celebrate its opening Marshalls his host a grand opening will be held from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. on April 26. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 7:30 a.m. and a $10,000 check will be presented to Crispus Attucks Association of York PA.

“When we partner with a local community, we select an organization that enriches the community,” Babb said. “We selected Crispus Attucks because of their strong commitment to the community and wanted to give back.”
