George's B-Street Subs in Hanover up for sale by owner
The owners of a popular Hanover borough sandwich shop have put the restaurant and its location on the market.
George’s B-Street Subs at 429 Baltimore St. is being listed for sale by the restaurant’s founders and owners, Veronica and George Reiker. The couple is being represented by Rock Commercial Real Estate in the sale of the 7,020 square foot property, which is listed for $420,000.
George Reiker purchased the York County property in 2001 and founded the restaurant in 2002. The building, which had formerly served as a gift shop, candy store and grocery store, now contains two apartments and six rented garages in addition to the restaurant.
The sale will include the property, the restaurant and the leases to the rental properties, said George Reiker.
Reiker said the restaurant had enjoyed "tremendous support of our staff and the loyal following of our great customers" and hopes to find a buyer that will keep the location as a restaurant.
"I think we made something really special here in Hanover and our customer’s absolutely love us. They’re very passionate about what we offer and we’re grateful for that," said Reiker.
Reiker said the restaurant employs 13 full-time and part-time workers depending on seasonal demand.
Reiker also hopes to devote more time to writing. He is the author of Charlie’s Woods, a fictionalized portrayal of an executive who leaves his job and family only to be mentored by a kindly Christian man.
The book was published in 2005 by Executive Books, a South Middletown Township-based publisher of inspirational and self-help books now operating under the name Tremendous Leadership. Reiker has three additional books in the works, including a sequel to Charlie’s Woods.
"It would really be nice to have the time to finish those," he said. "It’s something I’d really like to do and have the time to pursue it."
