Kim S. Riley studied broadcasting at Temple University, but after a marketing internship at a national nonprofit, she changed course. When she worked in Washington, D.C., she met a creative director who had a great effect on her entire career. He gave Riley the best advice she’s received: to have success, she needed to be a great communicator. They worked together for two years, and she still constantly seeks out his advice, opinions and recommendations. The one word she would use to describe herself is “sensei,” because it best expresses her desire to forge new pathways and guide others down them. She loves to experience new things — restaurants, stores, tech gadgets, television shows, travel destinations — and to see her boys experience new things. She is motivated by her family, to see them happy and proud of her accomplishments. By far her greatest accomplishment to date was the launch of Merit (madewithmerit. com), and the market inventions she’s built on behalf of Merit clients.
