WellSpan moves, enlarges Hanover cancer/hematology practice
WellSpan Medical Oncology & Hematology has found a new, larger home in Hanover.
The practice has moved to 671 Wilson Ave. and added two exam rooms, bringing its total to four according to Dan Carrigan, a WellSpan spokesman.
It is led by Dr. Robert Rice, who helps design patient care plans and coordinate with other cancer specialists.
"We’re excited about the opportunity to continue to provide compassionate cancer care to the Hanover community, and to be able to offer that care in a convenient, patient-centered location," Rice said in a statement.
The Hanover practice is in addition to five community-based cancer centers operated by WellSpan, which earlier this year began collaborating with the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.
The collaboration gives cancer patients in York, Adams, Lancaster and Lebanon counties expanded access to clinical trials and second-opinion services from Johns Hopkins specialists for rare and complex cases.
In addition, the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center serves as a referral destination, providing WellSpan patients a seamless transition of care.
