Kinsley-owned Warehaus names Mark Gerner as CEOAs part of leadership transition, Rob Kinsley will lead newly formed holding company
Mark Gerner is taking on a bigger role at York-based Warehaus.
Gerner has been president of the architecture and design firm since last November. He is now adding the title of CEO, the company said today.
Warehaus, formerly known as LSC Design, is owned by the Kinsley family, known for Kinsley Construction and other construction-related firms. Warehaus will remain a family-owned company.
Former Warehaus CEO Rob Kinsley will now serve as the company's chairman of the board.
Kinsley also will spend more of his time leading newly created Kinsley Enterprises Inc., a holding company for the Kinsley-owned companies.
Kinsley is CEO of the new holding company.
Gerner relocated to York from Dallas, Texas, bringing to Warehaus more than 25 years of experience in business. He has held leadership positions with architecture, design, marketing and software services companies, as well as in the oil and gas industry.
"Over the past year as president, Mark has carefully and thoughtfully evolved LSC Design into Warehaus — a firm that is better prepared for future and ongoing growth regionally, nationally and beyond," Kinsley said. "Due to his work, this year is on track to be our highest revenue year in the history of the company and he has my complete trust and support moving into this role."
The company declined to disclose its revenue projection. According to Business Journal records, Warehaus finished 2016 with $8.2 million in revenue. It posted $9 million in 2015.
The company's best year for revenue over the last decade was 2007, when it recorded sales of $9.7 million.
The firm was founded in 1980 as Land Survey Consultants. It changed its name from LSC to Warehaus earlier this year to better reflect the firm's industrial roots and company culture, officials said. Many of the company's first projects were warehouses and it operates in a redesigned warehouse.
The company's services have evolved over the years. In addition to architecture and site design and engineering, Warehaus offers structural engineering, interior design, 3D scanning, building sciences, historic preservation, master planning, sustainable design consulting, BIM coordination and spec writing and code consulting services.
Rob Kinsley is one of family patriarch Bob Kinsley's five sons, all of whom got involved in construction and real estate.
Bob Kinsley founded York Township-based Kinsley Construction in 1963. The company incorporated in 1967 and began as a subcontracting firm in the concrete trade. Two years later, site work, paving and utility installation services were added.
Today Kinsley Construction is the largest general contractor in the midstate, by revenue, with $590.7 million last year, according to Business Journal records.
Over the years, the company has continued to diversify. It now has seven divisions focused on the construction industry, including a site work division, heavy/highway and bridge division, industrial division, manufacturing division, materials and aggregates division and a custom division for smaller commercial projects, renovations and mid- to high-end residential projects. It is one of the largest full-service construction firms in the country.
Bob Kinsley is chairman of the construction company. His son, Jon, is the president and CEO, while son, Chris, is vice president of operations.
His son, Tim, heads up real estate development company Kinsley Properties, while son, Pat, runs electrical contractor I.B. Abel Inc.
