Accounting and consulting firm Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. is adding six new people to its team through the acquisition of a northern Maryland firm.

The additions - certified public accountants Michael Flurie and Jack Slick, as well as four other professionals - joined Smith Elliott Kearns effective Dec. 1 from a Hagerstown, Md. firm called Flurie, Slick & Kinnett.

Two people from the Maryland firm - partner Karen Kinnett and one staff member - did not stay with the company through the acquisition. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.

The former Flurie, Slick & Kinnett professionals will work out of Smith Elliott's existing Hagerstown office. Smith Elliott has six locations, including several in the midstate, and a staff of 160.

The firm made a similarly sized addition to its team at the start of 2017 in a merger with Cumberland County-based Klingler & Associates, PC.
