The latest medical marijuana grower/processor facility in Pennsylvania has been approved to begin growing plants, the Wolf administration announced today.

The state Department of Health gave Ilera Healthcare LLC the OK for a facility in Fulton County, which is west of Franklin and Adams counties in southern Pennsylvania. It is the fourth facility to be operational, according to the administration.

Gov. Tom Wolf signed the medical marijuana program into law in 2016. Since opening up the state's medical marijuana patient registry in November, the more than 8,000 patients have registered and more than 400 have visited an approved practitioner and received their certification.

"We are working to make sure those patients have access to medical marijuana when the first dispensaries open sometime next year," Wolf said in a statement.

More than 150 physicians have been approved as practitioners, while another 350 are going through the process, health officials said.
