A Lancaster County company that makes copper wires plans to boost its manufacturing capabilities through an expansion and the addition of a new building.

Denver Borough-based Direct Wire & Cable broke ground in mid-October on the planned 10,000-square-foot expansion. It also plans to set up operations in a second building in the Denver area.

The company hopes the additions will lead to faster turnaround and increased output. It is also developing a product and marketing center in a move to reach new customers.

Direct Wire & Cable declined to provide further details about the expansion and new facility beyond saying that the projects will increase the company's Lancaster County presence by about 25 percent.

The additions will also create "several" new jobs in positions like assembly, operations and shipping, according to a news release. These jobs will be advertised on the company's website.

Direct Wire & Cable currently has more than 70 employees, its website states.
