From a kitchen in downtown York where she makes her healthy snack-food items, Sarah Lanphier is taking another big step to sell her products outside of Central Pennsylvania.

And those products have a new name, and a wider focus.

Lanphier this summer changed the name of her York retail store and website from Nuts About Granola to a new handle, Sarah’s Sweet & Savory Snacks.

And she just landed an agreement to sell her snack items in 30 Target stores across Pennsylvania, mostly on the eastern side, Lanphier said last week.

The 30-year-old entrepreneur operates a retail store at 46 W. Philadelphia St. in downtown York and a production kitchen at 9 W. Philadelphia St. She called the new Target agreement her first major deal under the Sarah’s Sweet & Savory Snacks name.

She hopes it leads to opportunities to expand sales to other Targets and retail stores around the U.S.

She changed the store and website name because she found the Granola in her business title limiting, and wanted to reach a larger audience with Snacks in the name.

Lanphier, of Lancaster, incorporated the business in 2008 with her mother Gayle Lanphier, a registered dietitian. The corporate name for the business remains Nuts About Granola LLC. Sarah Lanphier is its CEO.

Under the Sarah’s Sweet & Savory Snacks name, Lanphier has started selling peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter chocolate and vanilla ginger large bags of snacks in the 30 Target stores.

Her goal is to create flavorful snacks that allow buyers to feel good about what they eat, Lanphier said, and while flavor is always a goal, non-GMO ingredients and keeping sugar intake low also are important, she said.

While still known as Nuts About Granola, Lanphier’s business in 2016 landed its first national contract, selling its Forager Original Nut & Seed granola in nearly 100 Costco stores.
