Kantor & Tkatch joins PinnacleHealth Medical Group
Longtime infectious disease specialists Kantor & Tkatch Associates have joined the UPMC Pinnacle system.
Now called PinnacleHealth Infectious Disease Associates, the practice, and its three physicians — Robert Kantor, Lisa Tkatch and Lindsey Govern — remain at their existing location in the PinnacleHealth Brady Building, 205 S. Front St., Harrisburg.
The office's phone number, hours of operation and scheduled appointments also remain the same.
Physicians at PinnacleHealth Infectious Disease Associates specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases transmitted by people, insect or animal bites, contaminated food or water, and exposure to organisms in the environment. They also treat conditions including non-healing wounds, skin, tissue and bone infections, Lyme disease, hepatitis A, B and C, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS.
The transition took effect Sept. 1, the same day that PinnacleHealth completed its merger with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center system, completed an affiliation with Hanover Healthcare Plus and acquired AllBetterCare urgent care centers.
"Our group has been providing infectious disease consultations at PinnacleHealth hospitals for more than two decades," said Tkatch, who serves as infectious disease specialist and medical director for the PinnacleHealth REACCH program, which provides comprehensive HIV care.
"We will continue to do so by combining our services with PinnacleHealth Infectious Disease Associates," she added. "This opportunity benefits our practice, employees and patients, especially in the areas of technology and comprehensive care management."
Kantor & Tkatch's move is only the latest example of a local medical practice joining or partnering with a major regional provider. In July, Penn State Health acquired East Hempfield Township-based Physicians' Alliance Ltd. in Lancaster County. In 2016, behavioral health provider Philhaven affiliated with York-based WellSpanHealth System, and later in the year formed a partnership with SouthEast Lancaster Health Services.
Kantor & Tkatch has become the second location for PinnacleHealth Infectious Disease Associates, which also offers a travel clinic at its sister practice, located at 810 Sir Thomas Court, Suite 101, Harrisburg. Providers at the clinic teach patients how to avoid exposure before traveling to a country where there is an increased risk of contracting an infectious disease.
