Off The Clock: Wagman
Wagman Inc. sponsored its third annual Can-Struction contest during the month of May. Offices and jobsites were broken into teams and invited to collect canned goods and other non-perishable food items for local charities. On the final day of the competition, teams had 90 minutes to construct the donations into sculptures. In total, the company donated 2,748 pounds of food. The winning team, from Dinwiddie, Va., is shown with their sculpture, “Driving Out Hunger.”
Giant Food Stores began its annual Feeding Our Neighbors Every Day holiday campaign, which will provide 1.6 million meals to those in need across four states this Thanksgiving. The company donated 1,500 turkeys and $10,000 to Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, and 250 turkeys and $5,000 each to Bethesda Mission, New Hope Ministries and Project Share. Shown, from left, are Joe Arthur, Central PA Food Bank; Samantha Krepps, Giant Food Stores; Eric Saunders, New Hope Ministries; Scott Dunwoody, Bethesda Mission, and Bob Weed, Project Share.
