A midstate child care provider has opened its latest center in time for the start of the next school year.

U-Gro Learning Centres Inc. said Thursday it has opened its fifth child-care center in Lancaster County. The center is in East Hempfield Township, across the street from Rohrerstown Elementary School.

The $3 million facility houses 10 classrooms and will care for up to 148 children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 8 years.

The center, at 2301 Noll Drive, also features a 13,500-square-foot outside playground and an indoor gym with about 2,000 square feet of space.

An open house is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 19. It opened for business on July 31.

Construction began in April. U-Gro's other Lancaster County centers are in Manheim, East Lampeter and West Hempfield townships.

Based in Swatara Township, Dauphin County, the company also has locations in Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon and York counties.
