Metso, consolidating in York County, leases storage space

By ,

An international mining-services company that a year ago said it was closing two Pennsylvania offices and folding operations into its York County location is leasing another York-area site for storage.

Metso Minerals Industries Inc. leased 10,000 square feet of industrial space at 90 Willow Springs Circle in Manchester Township, just north of York, from Morgan Court Partners LP, York-area real estate firm Rock Commercial Real Estate said in a news release.

Metso consolidated last year to one location in Springettsbury Township and closing its locations in Danville and Canonsburg.

A message left this week with Metso officials seeking further details on the new space was not returned.

Metso, an industrial company serving the mining, aggregates, recycling, oil, gas, pulp, paper and process industries, has over 12,000 employees in more than 50 countries.

Hopefully this will be the first in a string of good news for the company. I can't imagine it must have been an easy decision to close down such a big portion of the company in order to restructure and streamline the business! At least it looks like things are opening up and they can look at expansion again. If they take things slowly, hopefully it will work out better than it did in the last time. I'll remember this as a lesson if I intend to increase my fleet and supply of portable storage units when it's time for my self storage company to expand here too!

For really big businesses that are winding down their operations, I think that leasing out their self storage space is actually a pretty good idea to get some income coming in while they are trying to consolidate the rest of their business processes. Considering where the world is moving its demand to, there is always an increased demand for storage solutions in Sydney as well as for a better logistics and transportation network. Having a warehouse on the premises allows for businesses to transition into that pretty easily.
