Another hotel going up near Harrisburg International AirportComfort Inn & Suites is slated to open in spring 2018
An 87-room Comfort Inn & Suites hotel is slated to open in spring 2018 near Harrisburg International Airport, the latest hospitality property to pop up in Lower Swatara Township.
The Comfort Inn & Suites Harrisburg Airport hotel, which will be four stories high, is being built by Restin Hospitality, a Hershey-area company, and managed by Prestige Hospitality Group of Albany, N.Y. The 47,000-square-foot hotel will be erected at 1589 W. Harrisburg Pike, about three minutes from the airport.
A groundbreaking event is slated for July 18.
Construction also recently began on a $14 million Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel at the airport.
Developers said the new hotel will cater to airport travelers and people using the Amtrak station. It also will serve the growing Penn State Harrisburg campus in Middletown, the 193rd Special Operations Wing of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, which is based at the airport, and other people visiting midstate attractions.
The hotel will have meeting space and an indoor saltwalter pool, a fitness room and business center, plus airport shuttle service. Custom park-and-fly packages also will be offered.
The Comfort Inn & Suites is expected to employ about 30 people.
Landisville-based Professional Design & Construction Inc. is the designer and contractor on the project. Cost of construction was not disclosed.
