Who won the contested city races in Pennsylvania's primary election?
Here are the results of the closely watched primary election races in Harrisburg, Lancaster and York, most notably the races for mayor.
Incumbent Mayor Eric Papenfuse fended off four challengers on Tuesday, including a former city council president, to all but assure he will be elected to a second term in November.
Papenfuse has no Republican challengers in the fall.
Voter turnout was light in the city as less than 5,500 people cast a ballot in the Democratic primary.
The mayor finished the night with 2,663 votes, according to unofficial vote totals. Gloria Martin-Roberts finished with 2,048 votes.
The other three challengers, Jennie Jenkins, Anthony Harrell and Lewis Butts Jr., failed to crack 1,000 votes. Jenkins received 506 votes, the most of the three.
In the Harrisburg City Council race, the three incumbents in the Democratic primary — council President Wanda Williams, Ben Allatt and Shamaine Daniels — were all victorious on Tuesday.
A fourth open seat went to Ausha Green, who has an extensive resume of involvement in Harrisburg as a city planning commission member, school board director and volunteer with the Department of Education’s summer food service program.
Williams led the vote tally with nearly 3,000 votes, according to unofficial county results.
There were no Republicans on the council ballot.
Danene Sorace triumphed over Kevin Ressler and Norman Bristol Colon on the Democratic side in Lancaster city's mayoral race. She earned 2,010 votes, while Ressler and Colon received 1,256 and 1,012 votes respectively.
Sorace, who serves on city council, received Mayor Rick Gray's endorsement.
In the fall, she will face off against Cindy Stewart, who ran unopposed on the Republican side, and Tony Dastra, who is running as an independent.
Mayor C. Kim Bracey defeated challenger Michael Helfrich, earning 1,463 votes, according to results posted on York County's website. Helfrich received 1,144 votes.
Bracey has been mayor since 2010.
No Republicans appeared on the mayoral ballot.
