Duck Donuts, a fast-growing Cumberland County doughnut franchise, will open its latest midstate location this week.

The newest store, the third in the midstate, will open Friday at 261 W. Chocolate Ave. in Derry Township.

As of May 1, Duck Donuts has grown to 37 open stores with 126 additional contracts signed for new locations. The made-to-order doughnut chain was founded in Duck, N.C. in 2006.

Co-owners of the new franchise location are Todd and Stephanie Plummer and Tara Detwiler.

Through the chain's #QuackGivesBack initiative, which includes supporting a local charity or organization, the new Hershey store is supporting The Vista School playground project in Derry Township. Vista was created in 2002 to prepare autistic children for public school and eventually the workforce.

Duck Donuts has four Pennsylvania locations scheduled to open, including stores in King of Prussia, State College, Pittsburgh and Allentown.

The chain also is about to open stores in Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and Ohio.
