Jonestown Bank & Trust plans third Lancaster County branch
Jonestown Bank & Trust Co. is continuing its push into the increasingly popular Lancaster market with a planned branch near Lititz.
The bank is building the new office in front of Weiser's Market along Route 501 in Warwick Township. Expected to open in spring 2018, it will be a full-service branch, as well as home to the bank's Lancaster County business development and commercial lending operations.
The location will be Jonestown's third in Lancaster County. It opened an Ephrata-area branch in 2011 and announced plans for one near Manheim this past fall.
"Since (opening the Ephrata branch), we've been well received by everyone who prefers the service and flexibility that is the hallmark of local community banking," Jonestown president and CEO Troy Peters said in a news release.
Jonestown was one of two banks to announce plans for a new Lancaster County branch Thursday. The other, market newcomer Univest, hopes to open its fifth location in the county this fall.
Leaders at other small institutions have pursued similar opportunities in Lancaster County since a series of mergers eliminated several other community banks in that market. Jonestown, though, was in the area before that trend took off, Peters noted to the Business Journal last fall.
Jonestown Bank & Trust has about $500 million in assets. It will have 14 branches after the opening of the planned Warwick Township office.
