Troegs Brewing Co. in Derry Township has cracked the top 40 on the list of largest U.S. craft beer producers, as ranked by sales volume.

The Brewers Association, a Colorado-based trade group, today released its annual list of the top 50 breweries of 2016, both craft and overall.

Tröegs was No. 38 on the craft list and No. 47 overall. Of the top 50 overall brewing companies, 40 are craft breweries.

Tröegs, which started in Harrisburg in 1997 before moving to the Hershey area in 2011, was No. 45 in 2015 after landing in the No. 44 spot in 2014, according to the association.

D.G. Yuengling and Son Inc., based in Schuylkill County, topped the 2016 craft brewery list, followed by Boston Beer Co., maker of Samuel Adams, according to the association. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., based in California, was No. 3.

Artisanal Brewing Ventures, a 2016 merger of Victory Brewing in Downington and Southern Tier Brewing in New York, was No. 13 on this year's list.

Yuengling is No. 4 among all brewing companies, trailing Anheuser-Busch, MillerCoors and Pabst Brewing Co.
