About 70 jobs will be created when an internationally known cereal company starts operations soon in York County's new Eden Road Logistics Center in Springettsbury Township.

Officials with the township said Tuesday that Post Consumer Brands should receive a temporary use and occupancy permit by the end of the week, allowing the company to start bringing in office equipment and supplies.

Post, which makes cereals ranging from Raisin Bran and Shredded Wheat to Pebbles and Honey Bunches of Oats, is the main tenant for the logistics center, along Route 30 east of York.

Post has said it plans to occupy 80 percent of the newly unveiled 750,000-square-foot distribution center.

York County Industrial Development Authority board member Blanda Nace gave an update on the project, including the number of jobs being created, at Tuesday’s IDA meeting.

County officials are not sure when the cereal-maker will begin operations at the logistics center, which held a ribbon-cutting this past fall.

Post also has been given the “right of first refusal” to use the other 20 percent of the center, or some 150,000 square feet, Nace said.

York County leaders are not sure if Post will occupy the rest of the facility, he also said.

Post Consumer Brands plans to use its space for storage of dry cereal, Springettsbury Township director of community development Jessica Fieldhouse said Tuesday.
