Ten Thousand Villages names interim CEO
Lancaster County-based fair-trade retailer Ten Thousand Villages has named Carl Lundblad its interim CEO, replacing Pam Raffensberger, who resigned in July.
Lundblad, who starts Oct. 3, was chief legal and administrative officer at Susquehanna Bancshares Inc. through completion of its acquisition by BB&T Corp.
He has been working since as an independent business consultant, and currently serves as an adviser to nonprofit Hope International, a nonprofit micro-lending organization that follows business principles based on the Bible.
"Carl's financial, strategic and organizational expertise, coupled with his energy and mission-driven approach to leadership make him the right person to lead Ten Thousand Villages," said Ann Batlle, acting chair of the board at Akron-based Ten Thousand Villages.
The nonprofit retailer operates a network of 75 stores that sell artisan-crafted gifts, home decor, jewelry and personal accessories made around the world.
"I look forward to working with the board and leadership team of Ten Thousand Villages to build a sustainable retail organization that supports and empowers independent artisans around the globe," Lundblad said. "Villages holds a special place as a pioneer in the fair trade movement and I am excited to contribute to efforts to ensure that this mission continues."
