BrandYourself expands services with new capital
A New York-based online reputation management company with an office in Lancaster County recently received start-up funding to expand its services.
BrandYourself, which opened a Lancaster City office this year, announced it has raised $2 million in capital, bringing its total investment to just over $6 million.
The start-up funds come from investors such as Founders Fund, New Atlantic Ventures and Barney Pell.
BrandYourself will use the money to further its mission of making online reputation management affordable to everyone – from college students to political figures, according to Patrick Ambron, CEO of BrandYourself
“When we started the company in 2009, our mission was to bring the power of online reputation management to everyone, not just the wealthy,” Ambron said.
BrandYourself offers do-it-yourself tools for online reputation management, a well as options where the company does the work. The company is currently working on a new tool that will scan social media for unwanted posts.
“The algorithm we've been honing finds damaging topics like slurs, swears, sexually explicit words and drug use,” Pete Kistler, head of product for BrandYourself said in a June Business Journal interview.
“Ninety percent of people who have tested it so far have found at least something worth deleting: whether it was an ill-advised post they published years ago, or something a friend wrote that portrays them in a negative light,” Kistler said.
