One of York County's best-known businesses is expanding into the southern part of the county.

Wolfgang Candy Co. will open a new production facility by the end of the year in Loganville, company officials said Wednesday.

To do that, Wolfgang Facilities LLC purchased a 56,600-square-foot industrial building, at 122 North St., Loganville, for an undisclosed price. York County deed records show it's the former Interco Print facility.

Wolfgang will continue its current manufacturing and business operations at its main campus in North York, its CEO Ben McGlaughlin said Wednesday. Based in the York area for 95 years, Wolfgang is one of the country’s oldest family-owned and operated confection companies.

Wolfgang expects to add about 30 additional employees at the Loganville plant, where “our own trademark products, co-manufactured and private-label” items will be made, McGlaughlin said.

Wolfgang currently has a seasonal workforce of 50 to 100 workers, he said.

The new Loganville facility will operate on a 13-acre site.

“One of the hallmarks of Wolfgang is a core, professional staff. The people who work for us are dedicated and are like family,” said McGlaughlin, who’s part of the fourth generation of his family at the chocolate-maker.

Rock Commercial Real Estate of York represented Wolfgang and the seller, who was not identified, in the transaction.

Wolfgang has developed multiple product lines and has seen improved sales under the ownership of the Stillman Family Businesses, which purchased the business after the company filed for bankruptcy in 2012.

Wolfgang manufactures its own retail brand labels, including Farmer’s Fair, Special Reserve Bars, Latimer St. Bakery Truffle Cookies, Classic Fountain Soda Flavors, Greek Style Yogurt Treats and licensed Penn State pretzels.
