Matrix Development buys 205 acres in business park near Shippensburg

By ,

New Jersey-based Matrix Development Group has closed on its purchase of 205 acres in the United Business Park off Interstate 81 in Southampton Township, Franklin County, according to Lee & Associates of Eastern Pennsylvania, the firm representing the buyer and also the company marketing the park.

The Exit 24 land deal was announced last year. Matrix has been planning two distribution centers on the tract, totaling about 2.7 million square feet.

The company has been among the most active industrial developers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey having built more than 30 million square feet of property.

"We expect the sites will be highly competitive as more and more companies like Procter & Gamble and Georgia Pacific continue to draw on the efficiencies of scale offered by well-located large buildings able to effectively serve the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic populations, " said John Van Buskirk, principal and broker of record at Lee & Associates of Eastern Pennsylvania.

Sheetz will be the first tenant in the United Business Park this summer. And a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for a Chambersburg company is slated for a 12.5-acre lot in the park.
