Stevens & Lee/Griffin opens international business division with office in Lancaster
Stevens & Lee/Griffin, a Berks County-based professional services firm, has created a division to handle international business issues for clients and planted its office in Lancaster.
The firm tapped former state government executive Wilfred Muskens to run the division as president and CEO.
The division, Stevens & Lee/Griffin International LLC, will serve clients interested in international business development, including export assistance, international trade and investment, and global higher education initiatives, according to the firm.
“It seems like an obvious thing to do, but we don’t know of any private firms in the region that have an office for international development,” Muskens said Monday. “You look at Pennsylvania’s economy over the next decade, with all of the international education students coming in, and clients are going to need our help to be successful internationally.”
Muskens spent 16 years with the Department of Community and Economic Development, including an eight-year stint as deputy secretary for the Office of International Business Development. He also was the executive director of the Center for Direct Investment and director of foreign investment for the Governor’s Action Team.
“There are lots of business opportunities in this state and in this region, I’ve seen them in my time with the state,” Muskens said. “There are companies that need to export, and this is a very fertile area for that.”
Stevens & Lee/Griffin includes law firm Stevens & Lee, which has 14 offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic, including two in Harrisburg and another in Lancaster.
