There is something missing in the new company and corporate logos for The Hershey Co.
The Derry Township-based company unveiled a new corporate logo Friday morning that drops the “‘s” from the iconic image and now reads “HERSHEY” instead of “HERSHEY’S.”
Losing the last letter, according to a company news release, emphasizes the company is more than just chocolate.
“Today we are much more than the ‘Great American Chocolate Bar,’” said Mike Wege, senior vice president and chief growth and marketing officer at the company. “We have an amazing portfolio of iconic brands in confectionery and snacking, a great workplace filled with remarkable people and a longstanding commitment to giving back to our communities. Our updated company brand and refreshed visual identity is an expression of our progression to a modern, innovative company that positively impacts our local communities as we continue to grow globally.”
A new Hershey Kisses icon also incorporates the different brands of The Hershey Co., such as Twizzlers and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
The new logo will be used on all of its websites, in consumer communications and at its retail stores.
It will only be for corporate use, however, according to company spokesman Jeff Beckman. All wrapping on Hershey candies and other products will continue to carry the "Hershey's" name.
