Growing Dauphin County limo company Premiere #1 adds Tesla to its fleet
Over the last three years, Londonderry Township-based Premiere #1 Limousine Service LLC has nearly doubled its fleet.
With the recent addition of a Tesla Model S, an all-electric luxury sedan, the Dauphin County transportation provider has grown to 38 vehicles from 20 at the end of 2011.
“Our leisure market has always been strong since new ownership in 2009,” said Jonathan Snavely, the company’s operations manager. “But we were lacking in wedding shuttle vehicles. In late 2012, we started adding more vehicles with luxury shuttle style seating and higher passenger capacity.”
The addition of 14-, 24- and 40-passenger vehicles helped grow not only the company’s wedding business but also its business clients, Snavely said.
“The great thing about these vehicle types is they appeal to our business clients as well,” he said. “The same vehicle that can be used for a wedding or wine tour on Saturday can be used throughout the week for a golf retreat or transportation to board meetings.”
Premiere #1, which also added five sedans and an SUV to meet the needs of growing corporate accounts, finished 2013 with $1.6 million in revenue — a 38 percent increase over 2012.
About 70 percent of its business is corporate accounts, while 30 percent is leisure. The revenue split is 50-50, Snavely said.
Premiere #1 is the first known operator in Pennsylvania to add a Tesla Model S, which has a base price of $69,900.
“We calculate that after two years, we will offset the higher purchase, compared to our Cadillac and Mercedes, with the overall fuel and maintenance savings the Model S offers,” said Douglas Rydbom, owner of Premiere #1.
