More than 2,200 volunteers for the 2015 U.S. Women's Open have registered in just under four weeks, leaving less than 300 positions available, the United States Golf Association announced today.

“The outstanding success of this volunteer recruitment demonstrates the wave of excitement for the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open that has been building throughout Central Pennsylvania, culminating with our one-year-out welcome event in downtown Lancaster with honorary chairman Arnold Palmer,” Barry Deach, championship director, said in a news release.

People who would like to be considered for volunteer positions should register at www.2015uswomensopen.com, which says the cost of volunteering is $135 and includes a weeklong access pass, preferred parking, the volunteer uniform package, daily entry to the volunteer tent, two passes to the 70th U.S. Women's Open appreciation party, entries to various prize drawings and more.

The USGA also noted that its limited early ticket offering will close on July 31. It includes limited-time pricing of a two-entry championship grounds pass for $75, a seven-entry pass for $115 or the 1761 Club badge for $200. The two-entry or seven-entry championship grounds passes offer guests a specific number of entries that can be used all by one person or shared among a group.

“We’re finding that many members of the community are excited to learn that our entry pass e-tickets can be used by a group or by an individual,” said Deach. “When they hear that two people can attend the U.S. Women’s Open with one two-entry championship grounds pass for $75, they realize the incredible value that is being offered until July 31.”

The 70th U.S. Women’s Open, to be held July 6 to 12, 2015, will bring 156 of the world’s best professional and amateur female golfers to Lancaster Country Club for the first USGA championship staged there. Fox Sports will provide live television coverage, which includes all four rounds of the championship.

A reader who had the same question told me she emailed guest services with that question and got an automatic reply with a code that allowed her to register.
