Harrisburg University of Science & Technology has its first endowed faculty chairman, thanks to Triple Crown Corp. Inc. founder Alex DiSanto.

In August, Jay Liebowitz will become the first holder of the one-year DiSanto Endowed Visiting Chair in Applied Business and Economics. In addition to designing and delivering classes, he will develop and manage a speaker series for the broader Central Pennsylvania community.

Liebowitz is the Orkand Endowed Chair of Management and Technology in the Graduate School at the University of Maryland University College. He previously worked at Johns Hopkins University and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

HU spokesman Steve Infanti called the endowed chair “a powerful recruitment tool,” saying the milestone represents “a great first step forward for HU.”
