Edward Jones moving into traditionally agricultural Lebanon County building

By

The office space at the Lebanon Valley Agricultural Center has always been occupied by agricultural, government organizations.

That’s about to change.

The Lebanon County Board of Commissioners approved a request for a new Edward Jones franchise to move into the center, taking the last of five available office spaces in the North Cornwall Township building.

The national financial advisement company signed the lease Thursday, according to Lebanon County Chief Clerk/County Administrator Jamie Wolgemuth.

The building, built in the 1980s, is a 50/50 partnership between the county and the Lebanon Valley Expo Center. The building is adjacent to the Expo Center.

Traditionally, the building had been reserved for agricultural-related government agencies to locate in the county. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Penn State University extension office and conservation departments have been located there in its history.

But with consolidation of government departments, there has been recent vacancy, Wolgemuth said. That left Edward Jones inquiring about the spot and eventually signing the lease for $1,480 per month, he said.

“It’s kind of a thinking outside-the-box thing,” he said. “And it’s good to have full occupancy in there again.”

Wolgemuth also said with the North Cornwall Commons and additional development projects slated for the area in the next few years, it will be a highly visible location.
