First Niagara Benefits Consulting, which is based in New York and has an office in Mechanicsburg, has thrown its hat into the private insurance exchange ring.

The First Niagara Benefits Exchange is for businesses with 100 or more employees and, according to a news release, can accommodate a wide range of employer contribution approaches to offering employee benefits. It has Web-based decision support tools and a call center, and it is designed to allow employees to choose benefit options for themselves and their families.

Bswift is providing the exchange's technology platform and has a longstanding relationship with FNBC, as they currently partner in the administration of private exchanges in Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and California.
