Visitors bureau relocating Harrisburg office
The Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau expects to move out of downtown Harrisburg and into a single-floor space along North Front Street next month.
The bureau has signed a lease for a 5,025-square-foot space at 3211 N. Front St., the home of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and Capital Region Economic Development Corp.
The destination marketing organization, which has 13 employees, has been on South Second Street since 2008. Relocating should help the bureau grow its visibility among area businesses, officials said.
The move, which is slated for mid-May, will help with organizational efficiency and team cohesiveness, said Mary Smith, the bureau's president. In its current space, bureau employees have been divided between two floors.
As part of the transition, the bureau will turn over its first-floor visitors information center to the nearby Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District, which already displays information about area attractions.
Smith said the move will remove that level of duplication.
"We're serving the same people," she said.
