The spring market will get here … eventually

By ,

Well, the snow is finally gone for the year, but spring is still struggling to get to its feet in the midstate.

With the warmer weather comes the awaited uptick in real estate listings and sales that the industry covets so. This year, however, Mother Nature isn’t cooperating. Much.

The rain that seems to be constantly falling (April showers, etc., etc.) is no fun for sellers sweating home inspections and buyers tracking mud into people’s homes during showings. With the departure of the snow, yards and landscaping are swamped with water and soggy to walk on. I guess the grass will like it, at least…

From what I’m hearing on the street, though, home listings are selling briskly so far in 2014. On the other hand, some of the data so far this year suggest sluggish trends in new listings and pending sales – most likely the residuals of the frosty winter and snowbound families.

I think it’s safe to say that we’ll all be happier when the May flowers are in bloom and the sun is recharging our souls once again.
